Create educational games in your own language
Llenguado is an initiative with the goal of providing games, knowledge and open source code to national minorities so they can create games and tools to make it easier for them and their children to learn their own mother tongue.
It was born to help saving the Catalan language from the cultural genocide that Spain is committing against the Catalan national minority.
How to create/adapt the Llenguado games
As soon as the source code of the different game types is in a polished and releasable state we will open a public Github repository with it. For the model games we are using CC0 game assets to make sure that people can start adapting them to their own language with as little effort as possible. In principle it should be as simple as you finding your own audio and images and replacing the ones from the game model. We are using free open source software tools so the process of adapting games should cost no money at all.
Software tools
The game engine we are using to create the games is Godot, https://godotengine.org. As they say on their website "The Godot Engine is a free, all-in-one, cross-platform game engine that makes it easy for you to create 2D and 3D games". The game engine itself is quite simple to use, it does not require a powerful computer and there is plenty of information available on the internet about its features.
